It is all about striking the right balance for healthy living
Journal
Hi there, my name is Sakina Dadla and this is a mini-blog on how to approach life with a holistic view and about finding the path to your own happiness.
"Because no one else is responsible for your happiness!"
The word ‘holistic health care' is not limited to medical sciences, but has a huge application in our lives on a daily basis. For me, achieving the right balance in life has always been a critical factor on the road to finding happiness. When you hit the bed after a long day at work, you want to be at peace, content, and happy. Too much of anything, or too little can disrupt your happiness and throw life off balance.
We often forget how different parts of our existence (physical, mental, emotional, and so on) are so beautifully interconnected such that one part cannot be addressed without addressing the other. The mind, body, and soul have delicate fibres intertwined with one another and a slight twitch in one fibre can cause heavy vibrations in the other fibres. Hence, holistic care!!
My journey into holistic care, whether it be a healthy mind, body, or skin, has always been about striking the right balance. If you work hard all week, make sure to take time out for yourself. Self-care is the kind that you must never be apologetic for and that means to be there for yourself as much as you are there for everyone else. It could be anything that makes you happy and puts your mind at ease. Whether it be a glass of wine in your bathtub, reading a book, singing along to your favorite song while alone at home. It could also be hitting the gym, taking care of your skin or anything else that makes you feel like you.
Always remember to unapologetically be YOU!!
For me, it is the liberation I find in singing, dancing to my favorite song in the club, laughing with my people, working out in the gym, taking care of my skin. I’ve had people tell me- ‘Why do you bother with your skin so much? It will take care of itself’. Yes, our body has a natural ability to heal, but we need to provide it with the essential nutrients it needs to do that quickly and efficiently. Your skin is like any other part of your body which requires your attention to help keep it healthy. Instead of trying to focus on that one zit, focus your energy on complete and whole skincare. Equip yourself with skin-care products whose end goal is holistic skin-health. Drink enough water, make sure to eat healthy and go do that workout because yes, it can help your skin as well. But this does not mean you don’t enjoy yourself as well. It’s very important to let go sometimes, to just do the things you love without any inhibitions.
Never be sorry for prioritizing yourself, for doing the things you love. It doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else, as long as it makes sense to you. Be yourself in a world where people are dying to be someone else.
