Ideal skincare routine for 20 year olds
Dear 25-years-old Priyanka,
I am 40-years-old-Priyanka from the future. Read very carefully what I am going to tell you in this letter about skincare. Unfortunately, I never spared a thought for my skin & did not bother to follow proper skincare routine steps. I took the skin and all its functions for granted until something was wrong with my skin. I know that you don’t know (because I only found out a few months back, dummy :P) that the skin is the largest organ of our body and is as important as our heart, lungs, or kidneys. It performs several important physiological roles in our body -
- Skin acts as a barrier to external aggressors such as pollution, Sun’s UV rays, infections, free radicals,
- It regulates your body temperature, and don’t forget it gives you a sense of touch.
- We won’t be able to lead a normal life if the skin cannot regulate our temperature or stop all the harmful bacteria and pollutants from damaging our bodies.
You must start following a few basic skincare routine steps right now while you are in your 20s. The more you take care of it now, the longer your skin will remain naturally radiant and glowing, and the more joyful your life will be as you grow older. Once you hit the 30s, the cell renewal process in your skin starts to slow down, and it starts losing its glow, minute fine lines start appearing, and before you know it, you start looking like your mother’s younger sister. There is a chance that you may also begin to see sudden discoloration or pigmentation on your skin. Relax, I am not trying to scare you. You (or instead we) can avoid all this if you start following the below health & beauty regime:
Morning Skincare Routine Steps: Clean your face using a gentle, pH-balanced cleanser. Then put the longevity serum or hydrating cream followed by sunscreen. If you use makeup, put that after applying sunscreen.
Night Skincare Routine Steps: Once you are back home after a long day at work, wash your face with the same cleanser. In case you put heavy ‘waterproof’ makeup during the day, you should use an oil-based cleanser in the evening to remove your makeup so that your pores are not clogged and your skin can breathe easily and then wash again with your water-based cleanser. After cleansing or double cleansing, use skin resurfacing serum to reduce the appearance of those post-acne scars without having to undergo invasive dermal treatments.
Before & After Party Skincare Routine Steps: Whenever you are heading out for a party after sunset the skincare routine steps will look a little different. First clean and please remember to moisturize your face before you apply makeup. You might want to use a mask that is rich in fulvic and humic acids and instantly reenergizes your face before putting on the moisturizer or the makeup. Nothing beats a natural glow. After the party, use an oil-based cleanser to remove the makeup, and never forget to put on sunscreen during the day.
Weekly Skincare Routine Steps: Once you hit the quarter-life mark, exfoliating your skin once every week using a gentle scrub or peel has to be one of the most important skincare routine steps. Remember to exfoliate right before going to bed and not in the morning, and don’t forget to put your moisturizer and oil (if any) after you exfoliate because the skin can become dry after exfoliation. The point is to avoid stepping out in the sun for a few hours after exfoliation.
Remember, skincare or beauty regime is about using the right ingredients that are best suited for your skin’s unique needs and being disciplined about following the basic skincare routine steps. Your taste in clothing, accessories or even hairstyle will change, but your face is going to be with you forever. So please-please, follow the skincare regime I just told you. Also, please read the following articles on Aminu’s website. You can always schedule a call with their skin experts to find out which products will best suit you right now.
Yours truly, 40-years-old-Priyanka
